About Mrs. Ming
Born and raised Alaskan, I love everything there is to do outside. I'm a very active person and try to extend and instill the love of the outdoors with my daughter, Annie, and my students. My immediate family consists of my husband, Andy, my daughter, Annie, and my bulldog, Bruce. I have a large family with 3 sisters and 1 brother whom will probably make appearances throughout the year.
I graduated from West Anchorage High School in 2001 and started college after some traveling. I graduated in 2007 from Alaska Pacific University with a bachelor degree in Elementary Education. In 2011, I decided to continue my education and graduated May 2013 with a Master in Education Leadership. I thought for sure I would "hang up the hat" when it came to my own schooling but decided in summer 2014 to pursue a personal training certificate through the National Academy of Sports Medicine.
I have been teaching at Lake Hood Elementary since 2009. I have taught both 3rd and 4th grade. It's very important students are safe, engaged, and having fun. To ensure this, we create working agreements, expectation grids, and participate in weekly focussed SEL lessons. I also infuse hands-on experiences, real life explorations, and technology into our daily academics.
During my free time you can find me outside camping, fishing, hiking, running, walking, playing with Annie, playing on jet-skis and 4-wheelers, skiing, or sledding. I also enjoy being cozied on the couch with a good book or watching a movie. Although I absolutely love Alaska, traveling outside is also one of my favorites.
